The Blue Tiger (Tirumala limniace) is one of the most recognizable butterflies across South and Southeast Asia, easily identified by its dark, velvety wings patterned with semi-transparent, pale blue streaks.
These butterflies are famous for their massive, social migrations. In India, millions of Blue Tigers travel between the Eastern and Western Ghats to escape the harsh monsoon rains. During these journeys, they can be seen clustering in thousands on specific plants to extract defensive chemicals that protect them from predators.
