The Red-rumped Swallow (Cecropisdaurica) is a graceful and widespread passerine bird belonging to the swallow family. Characterised by its metallic blue upper parts and dusky underparts, its most distinctive feature is a pale or reddish rump, which sets it apart from other swallow species like the Barn Swallow. It also typically has a pale face and neck collar, and notably lacks a breast band. Red-rumped Swallows are agile flyers with broad, pointed wings, constantly swooping and gliding through the air to catch insects. They show remarkable adaptability in their habitat, nesting in open hilly country, under cliff overhangs, and readily utilising human-made structures such as bridges and buildings.
