The Pale-billed Flowerpecker (dicaeum erythrorhynchos), also known as Tickell's Flowerpecker, is one of the smallest birds found in the Indian subcontinent, measuring a mere 8 cm in length. This tiny, unassuming bird is widespread across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and western Myanmar, thriving in both forested areas and urban gardens.
Identification: Its most distinguishing feature is its pinkish, strongly curved beak, which sets it apart from other flowerpecker species in its range. The plumage is generally plain brownish to olive green on the upper-parts, with the underside being a buff olive that blends smoothly with the upper-parts, lacking the contrasting whitish belly found in some other flowerpeckers.
