The Black-footed Gray Langur

The Black-footed Grey Langur (semnopithecus hypoleucos), also known as the Dark-legged Malabar Langur or Malabar Sacred Langur, is an Old World monkey species found predominantly in southern India, specifically centreed in the Western Ghats across Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala. Like other grey langurs, it is primarily a leaf-eating monkey.

These are slender monkeys with long limbs and equally long tails (often longer than their body), which they carry in a distinctive "southern" loop. Their body fur is typically greyish-beige, with a brighter, almost orange belly in some individuals from wetter areas. The most defining feature is their black triangular-shaped face with wide, hazel eyes, and importantly, black hands and feet. Some individuals may also have black arms up to the elbow or shoulder. A tuft of hair on the chin resembles a small beard.
