Colourful Grey-headed Swamphen

The Grey-headed Swamphen (porphyrio poliocephalus) is a large, colourful waterbird common in Goa’s wetlands. It's easily identified by its bright purple-blue plumage, red forehead shield and bill, and grey head and neck. They are often seen foraging in open water bodies, walking on lily pads, and are known for their loud, cackling calls.
