The Bronzed Drongo

The Bronzed Drongo (Dicrurus aeneus) is a small passerine bird belonging to the drongo family, native to the forests of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. They capture insects flying in the shade of the forest canopy by making aerial sallies from their perches. This drongo is somewhat smaller than the black drongo and has more metallic gloss, Young birds appear duller and more brownish with less metallic spangling.

The breeding season occurs from February to July, during which they construct cup-shaped nests in trees. They typically lay three to four pinkish to brownish eggs with darker markings at the broad end. Despite their small size, bronzed drongos are notably aggressive and fearless, readily attacking much larger species if their nest or young are threatened.
