Hoskote Lake, a popular birdwatching and nature spot, is located near Hosakote town in the Bengaluru Rural district, roughly 30 km from Bangalore. It's a serene lake surrounded by greenery, offering a peaceful escape for nature lovers.
Hoskote Lake's significance as a birding hotspot stems from its role as both a wintering ground for migratory species and a year-round home for resident birds. The lake's ecosystem provides essential resources including shallow waters for wading birds, open water for diving species, and surrounding.
As I walked around I found in its waters birds like, pond herons, moorhens, swamphens, Asian openbill, cormorants, grey herons, etc. and on the shrubs and trees around, coppersmith barbet, baya weavers, munia, cuckoos, drongos, etc.
