For every water body in Kerala, there is a white-throated kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) also known as the white-breasted kingfisher. You only have to wait at a water body for a few minutes it would appear there from nowhere.
It sits by the waters patiently until it gets
its catch. It also feeds on fishes and other insects, reptiles, amphibians and
rodents.
