Marbled white moth or white tiger moth, Nyctemera coleta, is a moth found in India and around. They are brownish black and marked with short white streaks.
When it flies one would surely mistake it for a butterfly, but when it settles down it sits like a moth. It is much fragile than many other sturdy looking moths.
