Escape From a Kites' Den and Fury

This kites’ nest is around 30 feet high on a tree. I climbed on to the edge of a building close by; I had a pretty good view of the nest. As I watched the nest and three young ones of the black kites, the mother came home with a chunk of meat. The chicks are still not allowed to eat by themselves. The mother slices and gives it to them. They began their meal, all engrossed in it.

Suddenly, the mother kite lifted its head to inspect its surroundings, and found me standing on an elevation. It stopped feeding at once; it made a long stuttering call to announce danger, and flew towards me. I was quite close; I could see anger in its eyes and aggressiveness in the position of its talons. I knew what was coming, because I had been attacked on the head by kites a couple of times earlier.

I tucked down and dodged. This time luck was with me. By the time it made its second attempt I had slipped behind a wall and hid like a rodent. The camera and me were safe; and I had some good pics of the kites.
